Perth Six Circle Project is a voluntary organisation that promotes social inclusion. The Project works with adults who are experiencing exclusion and disadvantage because of challenging circumstances such as mental health problems, substance misuse, prison experience, unemployment and community service orders. By promoting self-help and offering them the opportunity to learn and develop practical, social and personal skills with a view to building self esteem and confidence they are encouraged to make positive changes in their lives so that they can realise their potential.
This is primarily achieved by promoting active involvement and service within the local community, the development of independent living skills and the provision of training and work experience.
Service Users undertake various practical tasks in the local community which provide help to people who are elderly, blind, disabled, lone parents or disadvantaged by health problems. These include projects such as Gardening; Painting Garden Structures; Clutter Clearance and Packing for Removals. Herein lies the philosophy of Six Circle: 'In meeting the needs of others we meet the needs in ourselves'
Service Users can also take part in an Independent Living Skills programme which gives them the confidence and skills required to lead independent lives in the community and to advocate on their own behalf
An additional feature is the Health & Wellbeing Programme which is a programme of physical activities designed to improve the health and wellbeing of service users. Activities include walking, cycling, swimming, badminton, basketball, football and the use of the health suite at the local leisure centre. These activities are free to service users.
